Write to me
So I can help you quickly, tell me the app version (at the bottom of Spook’s Settings), your iPhone, iPad or Android model and the step that goes wrong. Never send a password, a bank statement or a card number.
Add a Spook widget
Widgets come with Spook Pro.
- Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen.
- Tap Edit, then Add Widget.
- Search for Spook, then choose Next payment or This month.
On iPhone, for the Lock Screen: touch and hold it, tap Customise, then add Next payment.
On Android, touch and hold your Home Screen, then choose Widgets and Spook. The menu name depends on your launcher; Lock Screen widgets are only available on iOS.
Change the app’s colour
In Spook, open Settings › Appearance. Choose the light, dark or automatic appearance, and one of Spook’s 8 colours with Spook Pro: it applies to the whole app and its widgets. On Android, the icon can follow it with Match the app icon.
Move to a new device
Your data is on your device, with no automatic sync. Two ways to get it back:
- on iOS, restore an iCloud or computer backup; on Android, restore your backup or use device transfer, depending on your Google settings;
- or, in Spook’s Settings, choose Export my subscriptions on the old device, then Import a copy on the new one.
Get a purchase back
A purchase made in Spook is linked to your Apple or Google account, not to a Spook account. On a new device, or after reinstalling, open Settings › Restore purchases with the same account. A purchase made on iPhone or iPad does not apply on Android, and the other way round. For a refund, contact Apple or Google, who took the payment.
I don’t get my reminders
- Check that the Payment reminder switch is on in the subscription’s page: each subscription has its own reminder.
- Check that notifications are allowed for Spook in your device’s notification settings. On Android, also check that its notification channels are on.
- In Spook’s Settings, the reminders section lists the subscriptions whose reminder is on: tap one to see its next scheduled alert, or send a test notification.
- By default, Spook reminds you the day before at 9:00 of payments and free trial ends. With Spook Pro, you can also choose 3 or 7 days before, another time, and alerts before a promotion end, the end of a minimum term or a notice period.
- A Focus mode, Do Not Disturb or battery saving restrictions can hide or delay notifications.
- Open Spook from time to time: the app then extends the list of upcoming reminders.
Cancel a subscription you track in Spook
Spook does not cancel any contract for you: deleting a subscription in Spook does not stop a payment. Cancel with the provider. For a subscription taken through the App Store, cancel in your Apple subscriptions. For a subscription taken through Google Play, use the Payments and subscriptions section of that store.
Report a wrong price or service
A price has changed, a service is missing, a link no longer works? Write to me with the name of the service and, if possible, the link to its official page. The catalogue is checked by hand and updated without waiting for a new version of the app.
Erase my data
In Spook, Settings › Erase my data, or simply delete the app. Export a copy first if you want to keep it. I have no copy of your subscriptions: your iOS or Android backups and your exports may contain them, depending on your settings. Erasing your subscriptions does not delete these copies, nor the statistics and diagnostics already sent with your consent. For data received by service providers, write to me as explained in the privacy policy (in French).
